CVS 101

CVS is the second largest drug store chain with store in 45 states across the United States.

CVS does issue rain check for out of stock items.  If there is an ECB attached to the out of stock item they will right the rain check factoring in the ECB.  Example: Mouthwash is 2.99 a bottle paying out $1 ECB the rain check will be written for $1.99.

CVS has CRT's- CRT stands for cash register tape.  These are coupons that print from a red free standing machine in the store when you scan your Extra Care Card.

CVS has a rewards card called the Extra Care Card

CVS rewards are called Extra Care Bucks (ECB). There are tow types of ECB's weekly and monthly.  The weeklys are in the Sunday ad and monthlys are in the booklet inside the store.

CVS accepts the following coupons:

  • Manufacturer Coupons (including Printable Coupons)
  • Store Coupons (In-Ad, CRTs or Purchase Based Coupons)
  • Competitor Rx Coupons (example: a Target coupon for transferred prescription gift card)
  • ECBs (CVS Extra Bucks, like Catalina or RR)
You are allowed one manufacturer and one store coupon per item. ECBs are redeemed like a gift card, not a coupon, they may be used in addition to the other 2 coupons.

You may use 2 MQs on a B1G1 deal.

CVS does not pay overage, but will adjust the coupon to make the item free.  i.e if an item is .97 cents and your MQ is for $1.00/1 the register will beep and the associate will have to adjust the coupon value to .97 cents.
